The Kandyan Bride, Perfected

The most majestic bridal tradition in Sri Lanka — the osariya, the nalalpata, the seven necklaces — draped and set by artists who have dressed over 800 Kandyan brides.

Heritage, Honoured

Every Piece Has a Meaning

A true udarata bride is not simply dressed — she is composed, ornament by ornament, in an order passed down for centuries. Our artists trained under master dressers of the Kandyan tradition, and it shows in every photograph.

  • Osariya draping — the Kandyan saree drape, pinned to survive the poruwa, the tears and the dancing
  • Nalalpata — the regal forehead plate, positioned to flatter your face shape
  • Seven necklaces — including the peti malaya and agasti malaya, layered in the correct heritage order
  • Konda & hairpins — the classic bun with ira-handa (sun and moon) ornaments
  • Seven-pendant earrings — the finishing signature of the Kandyan look

Kandyan Questions

Brides Often Ask

Do you provide the Kandyan jewellery, or do I bring my own?
Both work. Every Kandyan experience includes a complete heritage set — nalalpata, seven necklaces, earrings, hairpins and bangles. If you have family jewellery, we'll gladly build your look around it.
Can you dress me by an early-morning nekath hora?
Yes — early auspicious times are our specialty. For a 5–6 a.m. nekath we typically begin at 2.30–3.00 a.m. Early starts are part of the service, never a surcharge surprise.
What is the difference between Kandyan and low-country bridal styles?
The Kandyan (udarata) bride wears the osariya drape with the nalalpata and seven necklaces. The low-country (pahatharata) bride wears an Indian-style saree drape with lighter jewellery and no forehead plate. We dress both — and will help you choose at your consultation.
Will the osariya stay in place through the whole event?
Yes. We drape over a fitted base with professional securing at every stress point. Brides dance at their homecomings in our drapes — it will not shift.
